Prezi Makes Amazing Free Flowing Presentations

image

I’ll be honest when I first saw Prezi I thought, oh great, another PowerPoint look alike. After watching the demos and really looking into it I was completely blown away by how fluid and professional the presentations looked. They are available offline and stored on their servers so you can access them from anywhere you have internet or you can even embed them on your own site if you wish.

There is a pay structure for extra features and space if you need space for several presentations, but it is free up to 100MB. If you’ve been using PowerPoint you should really check out Prezi as it may be just what you need to take your presentations to the next level. I plan on using it for my own in the future. Check it out here.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF MINT.COM

If you haven’t already used Mint.com or at least tried it your missing out. Mint.com is a personal finance website that fills in the gaps that large companies like Intuit’s Quicken did not. Aaron Patzer, CEO of mint.com is a entrepreneurial hero. He came out of nowhere with limited money and created the best online finance software out there. Like the story of David and Goliath, he conquered the giant, Intuit and was rewarded handsomely with a $170 million buyout from Intuit. Posted above is a wonderful behind the scenes look at how he started the company with limited finances and resources.

Cacoo – Free Diagramming & Design Software

Lifehacker posted an article today about a brand new and free, online diagramming and design software called Cacoo. It is currently in beta but appears to be running well. As a small business owner or entrepreneur you may not wish to invest in a full featured and heavily priced Microsoft Visio, so this is just another option in this brave new world of free online software. A bonus on top of the great diagramming software is that it allows multiple people to work on the same document at the same time. Similar to how Google Docs works. If you don’t already have a preference in diagramming software this may be a great tool for your next product design, brainstorming session, or organizational chart. You can see a video of it in action below and you can check it out here.

Manager Tools Podcasts

mt-logo

Management is hard to do right and I’ve found that most managers don’t do it right. Dealing with direct employees in the wrong way leads to low morale and lower productivity. Manager Tools is a free podcast that lays out the basics of management and covers many other business related topics even if your not interested in management.

There are hundreds of podcasts so it can be overwhelming at first, but they have a getting started page that has a great set of podcasts that break down management into four topics, one-on-ones, feedbacks, coaching, and delegation. Those alone are great. You can check out the getting started page here.

Business Book Recommendation Site – Personal MBA

personalmba
Personal MBA is a great site designed to give you some of the fundamental business knowledge that you would get in graduate school for an MBA. I’ve been using the personal book recommendation list over the past year and am really enjoying the book selection. Most of the books have been great and I would personally recommend them myself. It wouldn’t replace an MBA from a university for me, but it's still really great information that you may not even get from school. If you love reading business books then check this site out here.
